Mambhazha pullisheri (kerala style)

This curry, a traditional  Kerala -south Indian recipe, has a thick sweet and sour taste and is simple to prepare.Good combination for rice. 

Ingredients: 

Ripe mango – 2 big
Sour yogurt – 2 cup
Fresh shredded coconut – 2 cup
Fenugreek seeds(methi) – half tsp
Green chili – 3

Dry red chill – 3

Red chili powder- half tsp
Curry leaves
Salt as required
Turmeric powder- 1/2tsp
Cumin seed -  1/2  tsp
Mustard seeds -1/2tsp
Coconut oil- 1 tsp

Method:

1. Cook the ripe mango, cut in to big cube size,  in half cup of water, by adding chili powder,salt,  turmeric powder and green chillies.

2. Grind the fresh grated coconut in hot water by adding cumin seeds and green chili. Set this aside. This should be a thick paste.

3. Then blend thick sour curd.

4.If the water have completely evaporated from the cooked mango, mash this gently.Then add the grind coconut paste with half cup of water.Switch off the flame. Then pour the curd and mix gently.

5.Heat  1 tbsp of oil in a pan.To that add  mustard seeds, dry red chillies,  methi powder and curry leaves. Then pour this to the curry and mix well.  Jest before serving , garnish with the curry leaves. Serve hot with rice, pappad and pickle.

    Use sour thick curd for this recipe. Good combination with lime pickle!
